‘Paper Girls’ Ordered Straight to Series at Amazon

Paper Girls

A television adaptation of Paper Girls, the brilliant comic by Brian K. Vaughan (Saga, Y the Last Man) and Cliff Chiang (Wonder Woman, Batman: Eternal) will bypass pilot season and go straight to series at Amazon.

The rights to the critically acclaimed comic book series actually ignited a small bidding war last year. Multiple networks and streaming services all vied to procure the television version of the comic before Amazon walked away victorious.

The series is produced by Legendary Television in association with Plan B. Stephany Folsom, the co-writer of Toy Story 4, adaptation the comic for television and will act as showrunner alongside Christopher Cantwell, and Christopher C. Rogers. Vaughan and Chiang are also executive producers.

Paper Girls, from Image Comics, follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world. As they travel between our present, the past, and the future — they encounter future versions of themselves and now must choose to embrace or reject their fate.
