‘Ms. Marvel’ Movie Is ‘Definitely in the Works’

The teen Muslim hero is headed to the big screen according to studio head Kevin Feige.

In an interview with a Middle Eastern reporter for the BBC, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige dropped a bombshell: the studio has plans for everyone’s favorite teen hero Ms. Marvel.

Captain Marvel is shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel which is another character in the comics … the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel is definitely, sort of “in the works.” We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel to the world.

OH MY GOD! It’s happening! It is not a drill! We’ve been thrilled as Kamala has turned up in video games, LEGO sets and the occasional cartoon. But the casual announcement that there are movie plans for the pioneering Muslim hero came seemingly out of nowhere.

Marvel has been very tight lipped regarding what we can expect in their “Phase 4” movie slate, refusing to release titles until after next year’s Avengers 4. But it looks like we can add one title to the mystery list:

Ms. Marvel

Pakistani-American teen Kamala Khan idolized her hero Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel. When her Inhuman genes are activated by the terrigen mists, Kamala develops superhuman powers that she uses to protect her hometown of Jersey City as Ms. Marvel.
