SACRAMENTO, CA — On Saturday, March 7, 2025, the Heroic Girls Foundation took center stage at the Sacramento County Women & Girls Festival, transforming a vibrant corner of the event into a hub for creativity, courage, and social change. Through a unique art contest, local girls were invited to step into their own power—not just on the page, but in their everyday lives.
The contest challenged participants to look inward before picking up a pencil. Girls were asked to identify a personal superpower, recount a moment where they displayed bravery or kindness, and commit to a “mission” to improve their world in the coming week. The final step was to bring that vision to life by drawing themselves as a superhero.
Meet the Heroes
The Heroic Girls Foundation is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 art contest, whose entries showcased a profound understanding of what it means to be a hero:
- Emory (Age 8): Captured hearts by identifying her superpower as kindness, proving that the most impactful heroes often work through compassion.
- Evie (Age 6): Looked toward the horizon with her wish for time travel, specifically so she could “help people in the future.”
- Lauren (Age 11): Created “Fly Girl,” a dynamic hero who uses the gift of flight to reach and save those in need.
- Eden (Age 11): Drew inspiration from a real-life act of bravery, recalling a time she stood up for someone being bullied and helped them heal.
Empowering the Next Generation of Artists
To support their ongoing journey in both art and activism, each winner was awarded a professional-grade art kit. The Heroic Girls Foundation believes that by providing these young women with the tools to express themselves, they are also providing the tools to shape their communities.
“True heroism isn’t just about capes and special abilities; it’s about the missions we undertake every day to make the world a better place,” said Sarah Phillips, a representative from the Heroic Girls Foundation. “These girls showed us that the future is in very brave, very kind hands.”
The Heroic Girls Foundation continues its mission to empower girls through the pillars of representation, creativity, and leadership.
About Heroic Girls Foundation: The Heroic Girls Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to advocating for better representation of women and girls in popular media and providing girls with the tools they need to become the heroes of their own stories.
