USA Today has leaked that Marvel is launching a new Avengers book this summer, A-Force. (This is almost certainly the “big news” that marvel was planning on announcing on The View later today.) During this summer’s huge cross-over event, Secret Wars, The Avengers disband, but when an old threat re-emerges, a new Avengers team arises from the ashes. A new team that happens to be all-female: A-Force.

A-Force is written by G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel, X-Men) and Marguerite Bennet (Angela: Asgard’s Assassin) and drawn by Jorge Molina (X-Men). Marvel Editor Daniel Ketchum told Wilson that she could pick her own team. The only caveats were that the members had to be female.

Wilson chose former Avenger and Fantastic Four member She-Hulk, queen of the inhumans Medusa, mutant disco queen Dazzler and the magic-powered witch of the Runaways, Nico Minoru. She was also given license to create a new character, Singularity, a pocket universe that gained consciousness and chooses to be female.

Those five comprise the core of the team, but the cover promises that other female heroes will called upon when needed.

A-Force is the 15th female-led book published by Marvel as they continue their outreach to gather more female fans.
